1. Sources first
We start from primary sources: the brand’s own product pages, policies and public data, then independent listings such as review platforms and safety checkers. Every review lists the sources it used so you can check them yourself.
2. Tested or researched — we tell you which
Each review says how it was made. If a review is based on research and published specifications rather than hands-on use, it says so. We do not present research as hands-on experience.
3. Scoring
Scores run from 0 to 10 and come from a scorecard of weighted criteria that suits the category, for example selection, pricing, shipping, returns, support and reputation for a retailer, or motor, battery, brakes and value for a bike. The weights are explained in each review. A score is our editorial judgement, not an average of customer ratings.
4. Checking reputation
We look at independent review platforms and safety checkers and report what they show, including when feedback is thin or ratings are collected by the brand itself. We say plainly when we could not find independent reviews.
5. Prices and facts are snapshots
Prices, specifications and policies change. Reviews state the date they were checked, and you should confirm current details before you buy.
6. Images
Where a review shows a brand’s product images, they come from that brand’s public product catalogue and belong to the brand. Any other image is labelled.
7. Corrections and updates
If you spot a mistake, tell us. We fix errors, update the review date and, for significant changes, say what changed.
8. Independence
We do not accept payment to publish a review or to change a score. Some links are affiliate links, which is explained on the affiliate disclosure page. If we ever receive a free product, the review will say so.
