Virgin Voyages Adults-only cruises
An adults-only (18+) cruise line with dining, Wi-Fi, group fitness, entertainment and essential drinks built into the fare, and clear published booking and cancellation rules.

A well-reviewed adults-only line with a lot included, so check the extras and cancellation terms
Virgin Voyages sails four adults-only ships and builds dining at more than 20 eateries, Wi-Fi, group fitness, entertainment and essential drinks into the fare. It has won a long list of awards, and U.S. News lists it with a 4.5 expert rating.
If you want a grown-up cruise without a buffet, kids' pools or per-meal charges, it is an easy line to shortlist, especially if you drink little alcohol. The trade-offs are that alcohol is pay-as-you-go through a Bar Tab, the cheapest fares are non-refundable, and money paid inside 120 days is largely locked in. Read the fare and cancellation terms before you book.
Right for
- Adults who want a cruise with no children aboard and no buffet
- Travellers who like included dining, Wi-Fi and fitness classes rather than paying for each
- Light drinkers or non-drinkers, since alcohol is the main pay-as-you-go cost
Wrong for
- Families or anyone under 18, who cannot sail
- Heavy drinkers who want an unlimited alcohol package
- Travellers who need to cancel for cash late, since the cheapest fares are non-refundable
+What it gets right
- A genuine adults-only line. All voyages are 18+, which sets the tone for the whole ship.
- A lot is in the fare. Dining at 20+ eateries, Wi-Fi, group fitness classes, entertainment and essential drinks like water, soda, juice, coffee and tea are included, with no buffet.
- Clear published terms. The cancellation windows, deposit rule and payment options are written out in plain steps.
- Fare lock. Once your deposit (or full payment) is received, the voyage fare will not increase.
- Strong ratings and awards. U.S. News lists a 4.5 expert and 4.4 traveler rating and named it its best cruise line for the money in 2026, and Cruise Critic readers and editors have honoured it too.
- Flexible payment options. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal, plus pay-over-time financing through a partner.
- Future Voyage Credit. Between 119 and 45 days out you can take a credit for a new sailing within a year.
−Where it slips
- Alcohol is extra. Included drinks are non-alcoholic; alcohol is paid for onboard or through a pre-purchased Bar Tab.
- Cheapest fares are non-refundable. The refund and credit rules apply to Suites, Essential and Premium fares, while Lock-it-in and Base fares cannot be refunded.
- Money gets locked in. Inside 44 days of sailing all funds are final, and the deposit becomes non-refundable after the 7-day grace period.
- Possible gratuity confusion. The brand says tips are covered, while several travel sites report a separate daily gratuity on newer bookings. We could not confirm this on the official pages, so check the total at checkout.
- Popular restaurants fill fast. Travel sites report that reservations for the best-known eateries go quickly once booking opens.
- Smaller itinerary choice. Four ships mean fewer destinations and sailing dates than the biggest cruise lines.
Weighted for value, clarity of terms and what happens if plans change
Value, inclusions and cancellation clarity carry the most weight, ahead of itineraries and extras. This is a desk-research score: we have not sailed with the line, and we did not compare specific fares.
The long version
What the brand's own pages say, what third-party sources report, and where to read the fine print.
What Virgin Voyages is
Virgin Voyages is an adults-only cruise line operating four ships: Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady. It first sailed in 2021 and runs voyages in the Caribbean (including a beach club in Bimini), Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltics, Alaska, the Mexican Riviera and on transatlantic crossings. Everyone aboard must be 18 or older.
What is in the fare
The line says every voyage fare includes dining across 20+ eateries (there is no buffet), Wi-Fi, group fitness classes, entertainment and essential drinks such as water, soda, juice, coffee and tea. Alcohol is separate, bought onboard or in advance as a Bar Tab. Shore excursions, spa services and add-ons also cost extra, and taxes and fees come on top of the voyage fare, so compare the all-in total rather than the headline price.
Booking, deposit and cancellation
A 20% deposit (excluding taxes and fees) confirms a booking, and final payment is due 120 days before sailing, or at booking if you are inside that window. Cancellation rules apply to Suites, Essential and Premium fares:
- 121+ days out: a 7-day grace period for a full refund of everything paid.
- After the grace period, before 120 days: payments are refunded except the deposit, which can become a Future Voyage Credit.
- 119 to 45 days out: options include a credit for a sailing within a year, a date change or a name change.
- 44 days or less: all funds are final, though you may transfer or sell your place until 48 hours before sailing.
Lock-it-in rates and Base fares are non-refundable. Once your deposit is received the voyage fare is locked and will not increase, and the brand says special offers can change these rules.
What reviewers and travellers say
U.S. News shows Virgin Voyages with a 4.5 expert and 4.4 traveler rating and named it its best cruise line for the money in 2026. Cruise Critic honours include best ocean cruise line, and the brand lists many more awards on its own pages, which are its own claims. Travel sites praise the food, entertainment and adults-only atmosphere.
Where to read the fine print
Check three things before paying. First, which fare type you are buying, because it decides whether a refund is possible. Second, the full price including taxes, fees and any gratuity: the brand says tips are covered, while some travel sites report a separate daily charge on newer bookings, and we could not confirm either on the official pages. Third, how the deposit is treated after the 7-day grace period, since the terms describe it as non-refundable while the cancellation section mentions a credit. Ask support for a written answer if unsure.

A modern adults-only cruise with plenty included, as long as you read the fine print
Virgin Voyages gives adults a cruise without kids, buffets or per-meal bills, and reviewers and award panels rate it highly. Dining, Wi-Fi, fitness and shows being in the fare makes budgeting simpler than on many lines.
Plan for alcohol, check taxes, fees and gratuities, and pick your fare type with the cancellation rules in mind. If you want an unlimited drinks package or a free-cancellation fare at the lowest price, look elsewhere.
Consider it if you
- You want an adults-only cruise with dining and Wi-Fi included
- You drink little alcohol or are happy to budget a Bar Tab
- You will book a fare type that matches how flexible you need to be
Skip it if you
- You are under 18 or want a family cruise
- You want an unlimited alcohol package
- You need cash refunds late in the booking window
How this review was put together
This is a desk-research review. We have not sailed with the line. Booking, cancellation, deposit, payment and age rules come from the brand's Additional Terms and Conditions and Payments FAQ; inclusions, ship and awards information from its What's Included, Ships, Drinks and Awards pages (awards are the brand's own claims); ratings from U.S. News as shown in search results, and market commentary from third-party travel sites.
